The Relay Services is a free service which helps the Deaf people to communicate with the others with hearing or speech difficulties or normal people.
There are several ways Deaf and speechless persons can communicate using the telephone. In most cases you will need what is known as a TTY or telephone typewriter. TTY is a telephone with a keyboard and a small display screen for text. It allows the user to type a message of conversation and to read what is being said in reply. But here the problem is you cannot send a huge message and it allows you only to send few words itself. Suppose if you want to explain a big thing then it might be of more time consuming and the other person may not be able to get it correctly.
By means of ip relay they communicate with the help of computer and they both can see each other by means of the Video Relay Service(VRS). The operators are well trained in the American Sign Language and they all are ready to help in what ever way the particular person wants. The service is entirely free and so if you want to check also you can check with them.
If it is over the TTY then you may not have the explanation to the full fledged manner but if it is by means of the relays then the assistance will be much better than what it will be by means of using the TTY’s.
